Course Description:
The fundamentals of Business Law will be introduced, reviewed and analyzed with students. Emphasis is placed upon current and relevant topics that will enhance student understanding about the legal environment, ethics, the court systems of the United States, trial procedures, civil and criminal law, contract law, agency law and credit protection law.
This is a 1 semester course that upon its successful completion will earn students ½ unit of high school credit.
In addition, this course is being offered through the Schenectady County Community College (“SCCC”) University in the High School program. Students who register and successfully complete all the requirements of the course may earn up to 3 transferable college credits by taking this course. SCCC Registration and Cost Information:
Students who wish to earn up to 3 College credits for this course must register with Schenectady County Community College and pay the appropriate tuition at the beginning of the academic semester in which they are taking the course. In order to register, the student must complete the required registration form; pay the tuition prior to its due date and obtain, sign and submit a Certificate of Residence form. If students reside outside Schenectady County, the form must be notarized and submitted to the County Treasurer’s office to receive an official Certificate of Residence.
Course Supplies:
Students are expected to bring all supplies/materials to class everyday, unless instructed otherwise. It is the students responsibility to ensure that items distributed in class are maintained in an orderly fashion and submitted for review and grading on time. If a students is absent from class, items provided during class will be placed in a designated place or given to the students at the next class that attended.
