Course Description:
The Career Exploration Internship Program (“CEIP”) is a 1 semester non-paid, ½ credit internship that will provide students (primarily those in their senior year) with a link between school and the workplace. The program will provide students with a hands-on opportunity to experience and work in occupations and careers of their interest. The course will consist of a minimum of 27 hours of class and course work and a minimum of 54 hours of internship experience. The course seeks to help students develop progressive skills and behaviors that will help them integrate their role within the workplace and their community. Minimum Program Guidelines:
- CEIP program is registered with New York State
- The CEIP program must conform to all Federal and State Labor Department and Education Department laws/regulations
- A Memorandum of Agreement and a Student Agreement/Training Plan will be developed specific to each student's internship
- Students and parents/guardians will sign appropriate permission forms for participation in the course
- Students MUST have their own transportation to and from their internship site

- Internship programs provide a source of well-trained, quality students who are available for potential employment upon graduation.
- Employers tend to hire graduates of internship programs because these graduates are typically more serious and mature in their approach to work and life.
- Employers who hire internship students indicate that these students usually provide better employee performance, evidenced by higher performance ratings and lower absenteeism and tardiness.

Required Course Supplies:
Students are expected to bring all supplies/materials to class everyday, unless instructed otherwise. It is the students responsibility to ensure that items distributed in class are maintained in an orderly fashion and submitted for review and grading on time. If a students is absent from class, items provided during class will be placed in a designated place or given to the students at the next class that attended. |
