Course Description:
College Keyboarding will help students master the “touch” method of keyboard character operation. The course is designed for those who are familiar with computers, but who seek to learn proper keyboarding technique and improve their skills and productivity. Students will learn to key alphanumeric material by touch (not looking at the keys), while improving their accuracy and speed of computing.
This is a 1 semester course that upon its successful completion will earn students ½ unit of high school credit.
The topics to be covered during the semester will include, but are not limited to the following:

The topics to be covered during the semester will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Identify and operate computer system components and software
- Develop and improve keyboarding technique, speed, and accuracy using alphabetic, numeric, and symbolic information
- Compose, key, format, proofread, and edit various documents via word processing
- Develop competence in the use of proper formats and techniques for business and personal letters, resumes, research reports and reference sources
- Create a portfolio containing representative examples of each type of document produce
- Enhance communication skills, including language arts and literacy, as well as use of various computer applications used to express and communicate information
Course Supplies:
Students are expected to bring all supplies/materials to class everyday, unless instructed otherwise. It is the students responsibility to ensure that items distributed in class are maintained in an orderly fashion and submitted for review and grading on time. If a students is absent from class, items provided during class will be placed in a designated place or given to the students at the next class that attended.
- Looseleaf Paper - approximately 50 sheets (most information will be distributed)
- 2 Pocket Folder
- Pens and/or Pencils
- Textbook - to be supplied by the school
- Typing Software - to be supplied by the school
